About Us

Our Story

American Abatement was incorporated in December of 1985. We are a family business, started by our father, Robert Emmet Donelon, and his sons John, Terry and Tim.

We realized early on that the best way to differentiate our company was by providing the best service along with quality workmanship. This approach helped us secure maintenance contracts with institutions like Playhouse Square, The Cleveland Museum of Art, Case Western Reserve University, Cuyahoga County Public Works, and The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, just to name a few.

Starting out in a small storefront on Lorain Avenue, American Abatement quickly grew into our office and warehouse on Maywood, prior to settling in to our current shop on Chatfield, in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland.

As we developed our skills, with nearly 40 years of experience, we started a selective demolition division of our company, run by our Sr. Project Manager, Robert Donelon. Combining our talents of Asbestos Abatement and Selective Demolition has allowed us opportunities to work on major renovation projects throughout Northeast Ohio, such as 55 Public Square & Fahrenheit Restaurant, 700 Prospect Ave, Church of the Resurrection in Solon, the former Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, Westpark Shopping Center, and More!
